Kevin Kern and Daydream are well known for writing sound tracks for many popular TV dramas, such as the popular Korean TV dramas, Autumn in My Heart and Winter Sonata, as well as documentaries and radio broadcastings.
Technically, the focus of the concert was to capture a live recording for TV broadcast, and also use the recording to mix down a live album, as well as provide live sound reinforcement.
The project was managed by director, Jaehoon Um, who has a distinguished career in recording and mixing more than 6,000 pieces of K-POP, and Film and TV drama sound tracks.
Each microphone was connected to the AB168, which was installed on stage and connected to the Qu-32 with single CAT5e. All sources were processed and mixed on the Qu-32, which provided FOH mixes and broadcast feeds. The multi-track recording system used a Nuendo Live 24bit/48kHz broadcast wav format as the DAW. An iMac was connected to the Qu-32 via USB for multi-track signal transmission.
Director Um said, "The performance of the Qu-32 and AB168 was outstanding. At first, I was concerned about achieving a studio quality mix but the system provided a flawless and clean sound and really surprised me! I will definitely use this console again. Also, the DSP quality of the Qu-32 is great. I think this console is amongst the best consoles I've operated recently."
