Gillan has an impressive CV demonstrating a thorough knowledge of the industry and a flexible approach to his work. Since 1997 he has moved gradually towards consulting and audio design work, focusing exclusively on those activities for the last few years. His past experience in outside broadcast, audio engineering and sound recording combines an understanding of operational requirements and logistics with technical knowledge to offer project solutions that are based on real world concepts and not purely on theoretical learning.
He is also a founding committee member for the Audio Engineering Society Scottish Branch and he is a full member of the Institute of Acoustics.
"It has become clear in our discussions over the last three years or so that Roland [Hemming] and I share many areas of interest and experience," commented Gillan. "We share a desire to offer clients the best advice available tailored to their needs and expectations. However we also have areas of different, complementary skills and abilities."
