The extensive portfolio also includes the DSP30 Portable Real-Time Analyser - an expandable, multi-function digital measurement device, plus general-purpose Audio Test Sets, Polarity/Phase testers for loudspeakers, SPL meters, and a 5.1 Surround Sound Alignment CD. RK Sound Engineering is distributing the Gold Line products throughout the UK and Ireland, with its customer base including sound engineers and contractors, touring and rental companies, theatre technicians, AV contractors and voice alarm installers,as well as safety and security officers.
Jon Raper, of RK Sound Engineering, commented: "We first experienced the Gold Line products through our work as sound system designers and installers. We were therefore able to test the products rigorously under on-site conditions, before deciding to take on the UK distribution. As a result of our trials, we are impressed both by the brand's scope, and by the quality and sheer practical usefulness of the individual products. The DSP2B speech intelligibility meter, for instance, is unique in the marketplace. Security and safety issues are high on the agenda for so many premises, venues and public spaces, and regulations regarding intelligibility standards are now in force across Europe. Self-contained and simple to operate, the DS2B is an ideal tool with which to check a system's regulatory compliance and effectiveness.
Raper continues: "It is obviously imperative that in the event of an emergency evacuation, any announcements can be heard clearly above the ambient noise levels - if people cannot understand the instructions, they can make incorrect presumptions, resulting in inappropriate or possibly dangerous actions. The DSP2B can be used to measure background noise on a separate occasion from the intelligibility testing. This enables data relating to crowd noise in a stadium for example, or the effects of notoriously reverberant spaces such as airports and railway stations, to be automatically factored in to the STI calculations. The unit's portability also makes it practical to take a series of measurements from various locations while moving around a venue. Each measurement only takes a few seconds, allowing an intelligibility evaluation of an entire building to be made very quickly."
