Well known in the industry, Whitaker began his pro audio career straight from school, starting with a 3-year Sound and Production BTEC course in Birmingham. Following experience in music retail and studio recording, Whitaker joined a major leisure group as stage crew; leaving as group technical manager 8-years later. He then spent a period working in theatre and live venues before moving into project management.
"Finding people like Rob, with such a well balanced combination of hands-on and management experience across a wide range of applications is rare", comments Marquee Installations MD, Mark Brown, "So when we had the opportunity to invite him to join we jumped at the chance. With our increasing business, Rob joins us at just the right time to ensure we can handle it with the highest level of competence and service".
Whitaker comments: "Joining one of the best project teams in the industry is a great opportunity, and the applications serviced by Marquee are wide-ranging; including churches, schools and colleges, local government facilities, nightclubs, visitor centres, sports venues, cruise ships, leisure centres, restaurants, hotels and bars, and the occasional rock'n'roll venue".
"In addition to a large amount of retro-fit in existing buildings, much is ground up on new projects - working with teams of architects, surveyors and builders from day one; issuing drawings, programmes and schedules and meeting strict guidelines and deadlines. The most rewarding part is firing up the system at the end of the project and handing it over".
