UK - Professional wireless audio specialists, Raycom, are now stocking "the world's first digital covert in ear audio monitor" aimed at the broadcast and film market.

The Roger Earpiece system from Swiss based Phonak Communications offers virtually invisible, intelligible audio, as part of a perfectly simple solution for delivery of director's feed and prompting. Leveraging their expertise in designing miniature hearing devices, Roger Earpiece is shaped to sit comfortably inside the ear canal. Thanks to its fully integrated receiver and battery, there is no need for cables or belt packs, making Roger Earpiece the most discreet in-ear receiver available today, says the company.

The Roger Earpiece system uses Phonak's proprietary technology in the license-free 2.4GHz band, with adaptive frequency hopping to deliver interference free clear audio with a bandwidth of 100Hz-7kHz and sound output of up to 100dB.

Along with its companion products the Roger Base Station and, reddot award winning, mobile Roger Touchscreen Mic, Roger Earpiece gives audio professionals a complete plug-and-play platform, with one button connection and flexibility to configure transmissions from single or multiple sources as required.

Scalability is a key feature of the Roger system. A network of any amount of Roger Earpieces can be set up with each base station. In addition up to five touchscreen microphones can be introduced. The hand held or neck worn touchscreen microphone allows portable audio input to the earpiece alongside feed from the base station either to all earpieces or individually to a single earpiece within the network.

Andy Clements, Raycom commercial director, says, "Phonak's miniature designs are legendary. The clarity and RF performance of Roger is very impressive and will certainly become a firm favourite with both sound specialists and talent alike."
