The effect is created by rotating two X-size glass gobos off centre of the optical path; this results in a projection that does not appear to have a visible direction or pattern, say Rosco. The colour slot will accept dichroic colour filters and the projector includes onboard potentiometers to control the speed and direction of both gobos. Lens trains are available in 30, 50 and 70° configurations. Due to the efficiency of the lamp and the design of the optics, all lenses have crisp edges, even for long throws of 100 feet or more, say the company.
The X-Effects Projector is available in two configurations. In addition to the standard model, which is suitable for any installation where DMX is not required - such as retail or museum display - a DMX-equipped version is also available. Using five DMX channels, the unit has full control of each effect gobo, lamp strike and light output. The DMX-controlled douser, also initiated through your lighting control board, directs blackouts and fades as well as the light output.
In addition to X-Effects, Rosco will be showing a range of its other industry-leading products.Launched at LDI 2006, LitePad is a slim profile (1" thick) LED light source, available in six sizes ranging from 3"x3" to 12" x 12". It can be used with a 12-volt transformer, with a car adapter available - ideal for film or television location shoots.
Being shown alongside Rosco's full range of gobos and colour filters, Permacolor dichroic glass filters are specifically designed not to fade or shift colour, Rosco's sophisticated manufacturing process also allows for precise batch to batch colour consistency unprecedented in other dichroic coatings. Permacolor filters are available in 24 colours and five standard sizes on durable borafloat glass 1.75mm (.069") thick. They can be custom cut in any size up to 13.5" in diameter.
Another range of colour filter, the ChromaSleeve is an extruded polycarbonate sleeve which adds colour to standard fluorescent tubes, but also protects against the dangers of lamp breakage by containing the shattered glass. Featuring a UV absorber to prevent premature colour fading, they are available in standard stocked colours (Dark Blue, Light Blue, Green, Red, Light Red, Purple, Pink, Yellow and Amber) or custom colours matched to any Rosco filter and are available for T12, T8, T5 lamps, with 4ft length as standard.
Rosco will also show products from Germany's Derksen Light Technology, including Lightbrush - a modular, architectural colour mixing system, allowing users to create programmed colour effects without the use of a computer.
