L-R: Peter Heath and Martin Thomas.
Germany - Two key announcements were made by the Roland Systems Group (RSG) at Frankfurt: first, the restructuring of the RSS team in the UK following the promotion of Peter Heath to the board of Roland UK, and secondly, the arrival of the new RSS M-48 Live Personal Mixer.

Roland UK has announced key changes to its executive team, with commercial director Tim Walter taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer, and Peter Heath stepping onto the board of directors in the newly-created position of sales director.

Signalling a show of solidarity with its dealer network, the board of Roland UK has, for the first time in several years, two directors involved in shaping sales strategies and relationships. Tim Walter remains in charge of all sales and marketing, and adds responsibility for operations to his remit; he will now be supported by Peter Heath, who has a dedicated sales mandate.

Heath will continue to oversee the RSS by Roland division, launched in 2006, as part of his new remit. Martin Thomas, RSS' product manager, steps up into the role of sales & marketing manager, and additional technical support has been recruited for the RSS product portfolio's growing user base; Marcus Dalmeida, a former freelance engineer and producer, joins the team.

The RSS M-48 Live Personal Mixer. and RSS S-4000D Splitter and Power Distributor represent an innovative monitoring solution for live performance and studio applications, and a logical progression for the current suite of RSS stage sound control and mixing products, says the company.

The M-48 offers control over 40 audio sources that can be easily managed in 16 assignable stereo groups. The playing experience is enhanced with level/pan/solo/3-band EQ on each group, built-in reverb for a more appealing sound, ambient mic for better communication with band members as well as physical inputs and outputs for multiple headphones, wedges and powered monitors, interfacing with iPods, metronomes and external recording devices.

Sound quality is ensured by use of Roland's Ethernet Audio Communication (REAC) Cat 5e protocol. Power is supplied via the RSS S-4000D Splitter and Power Distributor, which can provide the digital audio stream and power to up to eight M-48s. Multiple S-4000D can be used in a configuration.
