The new Arbitration Court during construction.
Russia - A&T Trade, Marantz Professional's Russian distributors, report a huge order for 37 of the company's PMD570 solid state digital recorders. As with the rest of Europe Russia is finding the PMD570 an irresistible solution for high level data capture, with compact flash cards replacing the traditional cassette.

The first 19 recorders are all destined for installation in a new Arbitration Court currently being built in Moscow (one to record the proceedings in each of the 19 halls in which the sessions are held).

"The PMD570 will replace the Arbitration Court's DAT recorders which were traditionally used for the tasks like this," explains A&T Trade's Ksenia Valeeva. She added that this is just the first step of an ongoing project which will run through the summer, and is scheduled to complete in August.

A further 12 PMD570's have been ordered by Sicom, for installation in a security company HQ, based on the unit's power structure; the remainder of the shipment will largely be for A&T Trade's own stock.

Another regular user of the PMD570 in Moscow is Mega Music. Head of the company, Aleksander Anasiev, says the recorders are supplied to the Federal Security Service and Government. "The PMD570's are used for speech recording as an alternative to cassette recorders," he states. "The solid state recorders have a lot of obvious advantages, and these days it can be difficult to find a cassette anywhere in the shops."
