Salzburger Festspiele upgrades with dLive
- Details
With almost 700 performances in just under a century, the play is a central element of the festival’s identity and takes place throughout the summer. This year, the organisers have acquired an Allen & Heath dLive mixing system through suppliers, ATEC Pro Audio, which was purchased especially for the performance and are planning to acquire further dLive systems for their six other locations.
Dr. Edwin Pfanzagl-Cardone (head of the sound engineering and acoustics for the Salzburger Festspielfonds) had considered several digital mixers prior to choosing dLive. He comments: “Having heard only good things about Allen & Heath from colleagues and after examining in detail a number of competitor systems, to us it seemed only logical to go for a dLive system.”
The set-up comprises a three-way multi-surface configuration, with two dLive S5000s for FOH, operated by Reinhold Schinwald and Florian Kindlinger (FOH engineers), and an additional dLive C1500 on monitors, operated by Heinz Bauer. All three surfaces are connected to a single DM64 MixRack. Also included in the system is an IP8 controller, a DX32 Expander, and SuperMADI, gigaACE and Dante cards for audio distribution.
Pfanzagl-Cardone concludes: “We were looking for a dual-operator solution with the option to use other remote controls of different sizes throughout the venue and the dLive digital mixing system offers just that.”
