The Media Facilities Company was established by John Dick in 1990 and has its headquarters in Leith, Edinburgh, where the latest developments in digital projection, plasma screens, digital editing, lighting, sound and video-conferencing technologies are available. One of Scotland's fastest growing AV companies, it has seen its turnover soar by 42% in the last 12 months, despite widespread trading difficulties faced by the Scottish tourism industry in the same period.
In recent months, the company has worked on events and conferences with a number of Scotland's blue-chip companies and tourism operators, including ScottishPower, Standard Life, Lloyds TSB Scotland, Gleneagles, the Balmoral Hotel and Murrayfield Stadium. The company also provided the lighting, set and stage design and technical support for Scotland United, the largest-ever conference of tourism leaders in Scotland.
Media Facilities will continue to trade from its present premises, but will now also have the benefit of the substantial extra resources provided by Saville Audio Visual. John Dick told us: "We are delighted to be part of the UK's most successful AV organization. Their experience and resources will be a tremendous boost for our existing customers and, we hope, for new ones."
Saville MD John Sills added: "With Edinburgh the UK's second most important conference destination, we've been planning to establish a base here for some time. The acquisition of Media Facilities more than fits all our objectives." Originally founded in York, Saville built a network of centres across the north of England, before opening two centres in London and acquiring businesses in Glasgow, Belfast and Cardiff. Saville was voted AV Company of the Year at the recent AV Industry Awards, bringing its total of national awards to 13 in just four years.
