Previous participants include DJ Miss Behavin’ who has gone on to achieve spectacular success and is currently resident DJ in some of Europe’s hottest night-clubs including Ibiza’s Es Paradis and London’s Camden Palace. As well as the obvious opportunity to advance the winner’s career, the competition also comes with a first prize of top DJ equipment, certain to give any set a boost. This year, the competition will run alongside the all-new IDJ ‘Talk Zone’ which will offer DJs expert advice and tips on all the latest technology. Some of the country’s most respected DJs will be sharing their advice and techniques; including Les Adams who has held guest slots and residencies at the Ministry of Sound and New York’s Sound Factory.
The IDJ ‘Talk Zones’ will cover advice for the wannabe DJs on the basics of beatmatching right through to advanced skills, the potential for new technology and how to cut your own tracks. Concluding the ‘Talk Zones’ will be ‘The Business of DJing’ seminar with expert tips for advancing careers. The IDJ ‘Talk Zones’ will provide advice for DJs whatever stage they are at with their DJ development and will run in between the DJ Competition heats throughout the day, until the day concludes with the Extreme V, Gemini Grand Final at 4.15pm. DJs interested in displaying their skills should register at 10am, on September 9th, at the Gemini stand, F58. There will still be plenty of time to visit the PLASA Show itself, where over 350 exhibitors will display up-to-the-minute advances in professional lighting, sound and AV equipment in the hugely diverse entertainment technology industry. Dozens of launches of the very latest lighting and sound equipment are set to take place, which promise to give any performance the cutting edge!
