A free seminar programme runs across both days, with a range of sessions including an introduction to moving lights, information on the Bristol paint range and its use across film, television and theatre, a glimpse into the world of LED lighting, a history of dimmers, how to become a lighting designer and the use and abuse of chain hoists. Visitors will also be able to learn more about the latest technologies and their applications, and take the chance to have some focused discussions in a relaxed environment.
The work of students graduating from the RSAMD's BA Technical and Productions Arts Course will be exhibited within a circus inspired theme in the Academy's Chandler Studio Theatre with an adjoining industry trade show featuring sponsors of the TPA course. Bristol Paints, Flash-Light UK, LL Photon Technik and Teknique Systems have joined the list of exhibitors, adding a broadcast flavour to the event, in support of the Academy's Digital Film and TV Course. They will be found with Amber Sound, Black Light, ETC Europe, Hall Stage, JD Automation, Le Mark, Lift Turn Move, MA Lighting, Martin Professional, Northern Light, PRG Europe, Rope Assemblies, Rosco, White Light and Zero 88 in the Academy's New Athenaeum Theatre, which will be converted from the event into an exhibition space by TPA students.
Representatives from trade associations including PLASA (Professional Lighting and Sound Association), the ABTT (Association of British Theatre Technicians), PSA (Production Services Association), ALD (Association of Lighting Designers) and STLD (Society of Television Lighting Directors) will also be on hand to discuss their roles in the industry.The Show is open from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday 22 March and from 10am to 4pm on Thursday 23 March.
