A dizzying array of new products was on display from Sennheiser, not least TourGuide 2020-D, a digital, six-channel, rechargeable headset system that automatically turns on when the head band is opened by the wearer. A personal volume control is built into the body of the headband - which hangs below the chin and is easily viewed - so too the channel selection. Weight is just 65g.

The A5000-CP is a circular polarised helical antenna that provides a more robust solution to difficult or cluttered stage environments. The A5000 is linear across the entire wideband range 450-960MHz; its unique propagation characteristics mean greatly reduced dropouts.

Also new, Sennheiser's SDC 8200 is a fully RoHS-compliant conference and interpretation system.

A smaller, smarter body pack transmitter, the SK 5212 runs on just one AA cell (six hours), is more frequency agile, and possesses a two stage low cut filter to eliminate mechanical handling or wind noise. The SK 5212 includes wireless synchronisation with the new Sennheiser NET 1 network system wireless hub.

Other manufacturers represented included Rane: a new DJ mixer, the TTM 57SL combines the ability to scratch digital programme input material (MP3 files etc) using regular turntables for vinyl or CD (with a special disk in place) with the regular Rane mix features, including delay effects and magnetic faders, for example.

Lab Gruppen has four models in the new FP+ series, a range of touring class amplifiers. Top of the range FP13000 gives two channels of 6500W ea into 2O, yet still fits a 2ยต package and weighs just 12kg. Other models are the 1000Q a 4ch x 2500W, the 7000 2ch x 3500W, and the 6000Q 4ch x 1500W. There also additions to the C Series install range, two 8ch models 125W or 250W per channel; and two 4ch models also 125W or 250W per channel.

An extremely compact line array cabinet from D.A.S. Audio, the Variant 25A is a bi-amped, self-powered box using two 5" drivers for low end, and a 2" compression driver. Wall or tripod mountings make this a simple off the shelf, plug-in-and-go speaker.

A new addition to the Neumann school of microphones, the KM D series is a range of three miniature digital mics with integrated DSP; interchangeable capsules give cardioid, super-cardioid, and omni-directional variants.

Belgian manufacturer Apart has a new passive Sub, the 2400W uses two 10" dual coil drivers for a punchy low end. SDQ is a stylish range of self-powered, plastic bodied installation speakers. PR4000 a 4-channel FM radio tuner for install.
