UK - Showsec continued its long-term partnership with the 2010 International Live Music Conference. Communication was a recurring theme as company directors sat on three expert panels debating issues and discussing best practice.

The four-day London conference began with a production day, attended by several hundred international suppliers to venue, tours and festivals. Showsec managing director Mark Harding participated in a panel about how to deal with emergency incidents arising from inclement weather.

Every year there are a significant number of casualties caused by bad weather related incidents at outdoor events and members of the panel recounted personal instances and experiences as to how to avoid or overcoming these. Responding to questions from members of the audience, Harding explained the value of effective planning and communications infrastructures from managing stewards to ELT and show-stop scenarios, giving examples of creating good procedures to deal with a range of challenges.

Over 1,000 international music business promoters, agents and managers joined the event for the following three-day programme of conference and networking opportunities.

Mark Logan (Showsec operations director) sat on the opening Saturday morning 'Engine Room' panel alongside international contemporaries who focussed on achieving standardised best practice for event and touring security.
