According to sources from DStv, all previous Idols SA voting records were broken. The total number of votes reached an incredible 24,364,245 compared to 7,253,971 votes that were received last year.
The finale witnessed a variety of guest appearances by popular South African artists as well as surprise performances by the judges.
An assortment of wired and wireless Shure microphones were used exclusively during the show for sound reproduction. Microphones ranging from the legendary SM58 Vocal Microphone, to the SM87 and Classic Shure 55SH Unidyne have been used during the season and contributed to the success of the production.
Shure wireless systems featured were 24 channels of ULX-D, as well as 20 channels of PSM-900 personal monitors for all the artists. Monitors for all music performances were mixed by the team from Audio Logic and RF Management was through Shure's Wireless Workbench.
For Marius Marais, owner of Audio Logic and senior FOH engineer for Idols SA, Shure has become a household name since the shows inception in 2002 and remains the shows preferred microphone of choice.

As part of his prize package, Vincent Bones received a Shure ULXD 4DE Digital Dual wireless system, two Shure ULXD2/Beta58 Digital handheld transmitters, a Shure PSM9 In-Ear Monitoring system and Shure SE425 earphones all wired and racked in a road ready case for ease of transportation.
