Skan took the decision to buy a third XL4 following "overwhelming demand" for its existing boards, which are fully committed to the company's busy summer of events. This includes the Chemical Brothers tour, the Download festival, Keane's summer dates and a series of concerts for the National Trust.
"All three purchases have been driven by customer demand, as the XL4 is still the desk of choice for a lot of FOH and monitor engineers, who are adamant it is the best sounding board available," says Skan director Abby Llewellyn. "Despite the increasing acceptance of digital consoles a lot of our clients prefer the sound of an XL4."
The new console is being operated by Slayer's front of house engineer Tim Quinby. Skan is also supplying an XL3 as a monitor console for the tour and will have two Midas Heritage 2000s at front of house and two Heritage 3000s on monitors on the Other Stage at Glastonbury.
