The new software includes many powerful features such as automated time-based recording, audio threshold record triggering, VU meters for recording and playback, enhanced spectrum analysis tools, directX plug-in effects automation, white, pink, and brown noise generators, media explorer previewing, project file creation and support for 24fps native DV video files.
Sound Forge software is one of the industry-standards for audio editing, recording, effects processing and media encoding on the PC platform. It is used worldwide for production in leading recording studios, post production facilities, broadcast and media complexes, home studios, radio stations and training facilities. The application includes an extensive set of customisable processes, effects and tools for manipulating audio and creating streaming media. It also offers support for a wide range of file import and export options for most industry formats.
Andrew Schneider, SPDN senior vice president for Media Software and Services said: 'The release of Sound Forge 7.0 demonstrates our dedication to producing world-class software for our customers, this latest version, combined with our other flagship products for video and audio production, Vegas 4.0 and ACID Pro 4.0 software, create the complete package for the professional production community.'
New features included in Sound Forge 7.0 software are, VU/PPM meters for RMS playback and record levels, increased monitoring control when mastering audio projects and media explorer with auto file previewing. Users can drag-and-drop files and regions from the explorer into the workspace, or onto another open file, for faster copying, mixing, or crossfading. Sound Forge project file creation means editing sessions, with all edit history captured, can now be saved to the new Sound Forge project format. Automated time-based audio recording mean recording sessions can be scheduled at regular intervals via the integrated calendar. Audio threshold record triggering allows Sound Forge software to start and stop recording when audio input levels reach a pre-set threshold. Waveform volume and pan envelopes permit each file to contain graphical volume and pan envelopes for precise manipulation of each parameter over time. Plug-in effects automation, automate volume changes, delays and reverb with envelope control for each parameter. New automated effects include Reverb, Delay and Volume.
White, pink, and brown noise generators are invaluable for audio testing, analyzing room dynamics, and performing other acoustical measurements. The enhanced spectrum analysis tool monitors audio and effects changes in real-time, takes multiple snapshots, and overlays views to enable comparison and matching of frequencies between one file and another. Sound Forge 7.0 software also includes editing support for 24fps DV files, allowing users to view 24p content in its original form without any interlaced frames. Audio clip detection and marking enables users to scan audio files for automatic detection and marking of clipped peaks.
