A company specialising in professional audio systems is branching out to provide a training service. Shermann UK is collaborating with Audio Resources Ltd to launch a fully equipped training suite on the Mochdre Enterprise Park, Newtown, Wales, to pass on its expertise.

Established in 1983 by husband and wife team Ken and Pauline Hughes, Shermann designs and manufactures professional loudspeaker systems. Shermann also sells complete PA systems and offers a repair and refurbishment facility for older or well-used models from its range. The company has a wide range of customers throughout the UK, Europe and South East Asia which include PA rental companies, installers, theatres, audio-visual specialists, churches, schools and village halls.

The new training suite will provide instruction and support at all levels, from the complete novice who knows nothing about audio systems to the professional who needs to upgrade his knowledge of complex digital mixing systems. "We will be providing training on everything from basic sound systems to arena specification audio systems," explained Ken Hughes. "We will also be giving people a grounding of maintenance and the manufacturing process, so that they have a better understanding and greater respect for the equipment. Our training suite will have a lecture room, demonstration area and a range of the latest audio equipment available on the market."

Another important part of the training will involve health and safety issues, instructing people how to use a wide range of equipment properly. "We have several schools and leisure centres on our books who need this sort of service, which is not available in this region. Schools don't have properly equipped workshops for this type of training, so we envisage many students using our facilities."

Audio Resources is offering training support to individuals, organizations and companies within a 70-mile radius of Newtown and staff are also prepared to visit clients to provide on site training, where appropriate. "Using the client's existing system for training purposes is the most logical method of familiarizing the end user's knowledge of equipment used on a regular basis."
