USA - Fox Television has purchased six 32-fader, 96 in-line channel Solid State Logic C200 Digital Production Consoles to serve their on-air promotion and sports departments. The first four consoles, slated for installation in late 2003, will be used for on-air promotion replacing the SSL Scenaria digital post-production mixing systems in use since 1992. The remaining two C200 consoles will arrive in early 2004 and be used for Fox Sports projects.

Fox Digital made a thorough and exhaustive evaluation of all market offerings, large and small, to find the right console for their future post-production needs. As part of the studio upgrade, they needed a console that would deliver great sounding audio, sophisticated routing capabilities and integrated surround sound mixing ability to address high definition audio standards. The C200 was the choice for both on-air promotion and sports. The On-Air Promotion Group's C200s will be used in conjunction with the Fairlight editing system with SSL customizing the console and rolling script tray to accommodate the Fairlight controller.

Phil Wagner, senior vice president of SSL said: "Fox was one of the initial companies to invest in the Scenaria digital post production system in 1992. We are exceptionally pleased to see Fox's significant re-commitment to SSL in 2003 with the purchase of our new C200 digital production consoles."

The two C200 consoles slated for Fox Sports will be used for segments that air Fox Sports broadcast coverage including NFL, MLB, NASCAR, as well as Sports promotions and presentations. The C200 consoles replace two Scenaria digital post-production mixing systems in use since 1994. The sports consoles will be used in conjunction with the Pro Tools editing system. Rick Plushner, president of SSL North America stated: "This Fox purchase represents the largest single order of C Series consoles to date and underscores our commitment to the broadcast industry. I'm pleased that this significant purchase will continue our long standing relationship with Fox."

The C200 represents the latest adaptation of SSL's popular in-line console heritage with a dedicated 'knob per function' control surface with analog emulation of proven SSL equalizer and dynamics sections. Based on entirely new Centuri processing technology, the C200 operates at 48kHz, or 96kHz for exceptional audio quality while retaining all of its bussing capabilities at both sample frequencies. For demanding mix sessions, the C200 incorporates all the automation benefits of the popular MT Plus series console, with new capabilities such as integrated DAW control, scalable DSP and complete layer and signal path metering. The C200 delivers all this power in a small footprint design.
