Over the course of the three-day International Stage Technology Conference experts from around the world will be meeting to exchange knowledge and experiences. A total of 136 events will be taking place at this international event organised by Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG).
Yesterday, Brigitte Zypries, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, opened the trade fair and conference with a keynote speech. The symposium takes place in Forum I in Hall 4.2. Its slogan is Theatres and cultural spaces - urban centres and their continuous metamorphosis and cultural adaptation in the 21st century. The event is sponsored by the German government's initiative for the cultural and creative trade sector. Simultaneous interpreting into English and German are available at the Forum I and Forum II events at the International Stage Technology Conference.
At the SoundLab in Hall 3.2 the focus is on audio, acoustics and sound systems. Trade visitors are welcome to come and experience the sound created by state-of-the-art audio technology. Demonstrations under live conditions will be given of the latest developments and products and experts will be on hand to provide advice.
One of the most important industry issues is that of visitor safety at events and this will be dealt with in depth on the Safety in Action stage in Hall 3.2. Demonstrations and practical exercises will examine the topic of safety from various angles. There will also be lectures on the following topics: risk assessments of theatre scenes, pyrotechnics, working with lasers, rigging, stress analysis, fire protection and stage-set design.
The Stage|Set|Scenery Night will provide a first-class opportunity for networking. On 10 June at 6 p.m. around 1,000 experts from the international theatre, film and event industries are expected to attend the Palais am Funkturm for this evening event which will be opened by Tim Renner, State Secretary for Cultural Affairs in Berlin.
