An unofficial icon of Adelaide, the bar formerly known as Pier and Pines opened 14 years ago as part of the five-star hotel now known as Stamford Grand. The venue constantly battled noise pollution which is not a great selling point for the five-star accommodation located above.
Jbn Sound Ceiling's regional manager Jim Barker heard through the grapevine that the venue was struggling and so he demonstrated the benefits of the Jbn Sound Ceiling to them. "A few months after the initial presentation I received a call from them and we had another meeting," explained Barker. "I explained how the Jbn Sound Ceiling performs compared to a conventional speaker system and how the installation would significantly reduce the noise issues. The outcome was that they decided to purchase two Jbn Sound Ceilings for two areas in the Grand Bar with another Jbn Sound Ceiling a third system to follow soon."
Since the installation of the Jbn Sound Ceiling there have been no sound issues whatsoever and no complaints from guests at the hotel.
"With the previous noise issues the Hotel could not open the windows and spent a fortune on air conditioning," said Barker. "Now they can cut down on air conditioning costs. In this particular installation there is one Jbn Sound Ceiling at the front of the venue where the conventional sound system used to be and then there's one at the rear where the bar is up some stairs."
