Tannoy's VS15 BP subwofer.
UK - Tannoy has added three versatile subwoofers to complement its recently launched V Series range of Point Source, Dual Concentric sound reinforcement loudspeaker systems. The V series, currently comprising V8, V12, V15, and V300 dual-wedge shaped, high-performance loudspeakers, introduced last year at PLASA, now benefit from enhanced bass performance with the addition of the new sub woofers. All three models are capable of delivering high SPLs with low distortion and power compression while maintaining a uniform frequency response throughout the dynamic range.

The VS18 DR is a direct radiating subwoofer which extends the frequency response of V Series systems down to 27Hz, making it ideal for effects in club, theatre, and live concert applications. The VS18 DR utilizes a high-efficiency 457mm (18") drive unit with a 76mm (4") voice coil. Although primarily intended for permanent installations, the VS18 DR is fitted with recessed carrying handles and castor inserts.

The VS15 HL is a horn-loaded subwoofer with high output capability, which delivers 'chest-kicking' LF impact (down to 60Hz) used in conjunction with Tannoy V Series loudspeakers. The tight and 'punchy' sound of the VS15 HL is especially recommended for club and dance floor functions but will also add depth and dramatic impact for a wide variety of sound reinforcement applications. A high-efficiency 380mm (15") drive unit with a 76mm (3") voice coil is housed in a compact (578 x 555 x 650mm) cabinet.

Next, the VS15 BP is a compact (665 x 440 x 440mm), versatile band pass subwoofer system ideal for venues where space is at a premium. The VS15 BP extends the frequency response down to 36Hz and is capable of providing output levels normally associated with considerably larger enclosures. As with the VS15 HL, the VS15 BP utilizes a high efficiency 380mm (15") drive unit with a 76mm (3") voice coil.

Finally, the i9 column loudspeaker is designed for use in applications where wide, controlled coverage is required for music and speech reinforcement. Acoustically difficult situations can be catered for by directing sounds into the desired space while minimizing reflections from adjacent walls. The slim profile cabinet (779 x 170 x 200mm) and 50° downward tilt angle on the front baffle ensures discreet installations close to a wall or ceiling without sacrificing vertical coverage.

The i9 consists of four 5" (130mm) LF direct radiating drive units and three 1" (25mm) titanium tweeters positioned as a line source. The coupling effects in the vertical plane result in a narrow and controlled coverage pattern to 500Hz, with extremely wide horizontal coverage. The complex frequency shading and integration techniques employed in the internal passive crossover network result in a smooth and uniform frequency response from 80 Hz to 30kHz. The i9's versatile mounting brackets permit easy vertical, horizontal, and tilt adjustments for mounting and flying applications.

Tannoy can be found on stand L90.
