UK - Hospitality guests at this year's Investec Challenge matches at Twickenham were greeted by a new reception area, which led the way into the stadium's River Suites. Detail Management Services Ltd holds the management, design and build contracts and Jim Mason, managing director of Detail explained: "We needed to create a reception walk-through area to ensure that guests immediately feel special from the point of arrival. It is a key area in the complex as all of the hospitality guests pass through it on the way to their suites."

Detail brought in technical event management company Next Step Forward Ltd to design and install a sophisticated multimedia system, which would transform the walk-through area into a functional yet stylish space.

Mark Thomas, technical director of Next Step Forward explained: "Detail had expressed their desire to create an area which would draw the atmosphere from the match into the corporate hospitality area and make guests feel like they had entered an exclusive area. They suggested creating an AV 'feature' and we looked into using a number of products, finally choosing a combination of plasmas and Holo screens provided by AV specialists, PSCo. The Holo Screens were chosen because of their individuality and high quality results; they are a great, cost effective way of making an impact with AV."

The area featured five 50" plasma screens and two dnp Holo Screens with two Christie LX45 projectors, sourced from PSCo. The Holo Screens have an advanced holographic film that displays images rear projected from 30°-35°; this allows the audience to view clear images on the screen while also being able to see through it which creates a 3D effect. Held in place by thin cables, the images appear to be floating.

Next Step Forward worked alongside sound company Autograph Sound Recording Limited and lighting company CP Electrical Limited to deliver an integrated sound, video and lighting package that completed the corporate hospitality experience. Lighting fixtures were programmed to project different coloured hues on the ceiling to enhance the sound and video elements, the aim being to encourage a steady flow of traffic, which worked well although the Holo screens were obviously too intriguing for some people as they stopped in their tracks, walked around the screens and tried to work out where the image comes from.

Mike Potter, managing director of Twickenham Experience Ltd said: "Twickenham Experience's aim is to provide the ultimate corporate hospitality experience and become the number one invitation. From our brief and through the creativity of Detail and their partners we want all of our guests to feel that they are part of a unique event at Twickenham, the home of England rugby."
