Available for free to all NAMM show badge holders, the after show party took place on Saturday, 23 January at the Sutra nightclub. In addition to hosting a wide range of business associates, the event was specifically geared as an opportunity for critical listening of D.A.S. Audio's recently introduced Sound Force series loudspeakers, which are designed for today's high-level dance venues where exceptional sound, imposing power, and impressive looks are key requisites. The new series presently offers four models comprising mid & high, mid bass, and subwoofer options.
Darrin Young, D.A.S. Audio's business development manager for MI, Retail, and club installations, coordinated the Sutra after party, which included the musical stylings of Los Angeles-based DJ Serafin, with an opening set by Miami's popular DJ B-Side. Young discussed the Sound Force loudspeakers, the setup, and other aspects of the event.
"For the after party setup," Young explained, "we used two SF-112 3-way enclosures, and four each of the SF-215 bass-mid loudspeakers, and four SF-221 dual 21-inch subwoofers. The Sound Force tops, which consisted of SF-215 and SF-112 enclosures, were positioned in a horizontal cluster in Stereo-one cluster per side-on top of tall podiums (dancers stage) to provide maximum coverage of the room without having to fly the loudspeakers.
"A centre cluster consisting of four SF-221's was placed at the front of the dancefloor, beneath the DJ's position. We also deployed D.A.S. Vantec series loudspeakers for the DJ's monitor system. This setup consisted of one stack per side of a Vantec 18A powered subwoofer with a D.A.S.-TSP-1 telescoping sub pole supporting a Vantec 15A 2-way enclosure in a 10-degree position."
