The latest and most innovative part of the refurbishment process is the Havering Cube, a multipurpose performance and exhibition space. Here, Trafalgar Lighting supplied a 10m x 11m Litec Trussing structure over the space, supported on six Lodestar motors, enabling the structure to be brought down to floor level for rigging; 15 Andolite internally-wired lighting bars and socket boxes (giving a total of 96 socket outlets for lighting); 96 ways of Zero 88 Chilli dimming; 116 lanterns including ETC Source Four Zooms and fixed Profiles, CCT Starlette and Minuette Fresnels, Thomas Par 64 and 16 PAR cans, Selecon Floods and Pacific Followspots, and Martin MAC 250 Encores.
In addition to the lighting, Trafalgar also supplied and installed an electrically-operated 5m projection screen from Harkness, with a Sanyo 5000 lumen video/data projector mounted on the truss; a Hall Stage T60 Perimeter Curtain track around three sides of the venue, with black wool serge drapes; a Hall Stage T60 track with purple velvet drapes mounted on the truss.
This is a substantial project, demonstrating Havering College's commitment to the Arts development in its area. The results are impressive and students at the college really do have the best facilities on offer.
