UK - Broadcast sound specialists, Plus 4 Rentals has recently acquired Trantec's internationally award-winning S6000 and S6002 radio microphone systems. Complementing the company's existing portfolio of cutting edge equipment, Plus 4 Rentals has added 32 channels to its fleet; divided equally between the S6000 multi-channel 2U receiver and the S6002 - its compact dual channel counterpart. Both Trantec systems' augment the company's potential to provide advanced solutions for a host of broadcast applications, particularly Light Entertainment and Reality shows.

Ideal for work on location, the S6002 was recently deployed by Plus 4's MD, Stewart Chaney on ITV 1's - Hells Kitchen. Sixteen transmitter channels were combined with the S6002 dual receiver to provide a robust and reliable solution. As the dual receiver version of the S6000 rack based receiver, the S6002, which is housed in a 1U 19" box, is very compact and offers an ideal solution for broadcast applications. Tailored specifically for broadcast and AV environments, it is also great for use in theatre and other live applications. Like its bigger counterpart, the S6002 boasts an impressive tuning range of 70MHZ (CH62-70). Economic to operate, it runs on a single AA battery giving more than nine hours use on a single alkaline, adding to its value as a practical tool.

Very flexible the S6002 dual receiver is capable of operating within user defined frequency sets, programmed either via a USB port, or custom programmed to individual frequencies via the data wheel on the front panel. Its in-built Infra-Red (IrDA) port allows communication between the transmitter and receiver; configuration of the receiver is also possible from a Palm Pilot.

Chaney commented: "Trantec's S6002 proved enormously practical and flexible. Thanks to its frequency agility and impressive tuning range, we were able to easily find available TV channels in the spectrum. Its discrete miniature transmitter was well received by the cast and its exceptionally long battery life proved invaluable. A single AA cell would easily last for a whole day's filming. With a lithium battery, we had the transmitters working for up to 24 hours before we even thought about changing the cells!"

Plus 4 has also provided live broadcast solutions for TV shows as diverse as, X-Factor, Comic Relief, Ant and Dec, The Paul O'Grady Show , The Farm, The Match and The Royal Variety Performance.
