Slovakia - Czech pro audio distributor Prodance combined a dealer launch of RCF's TT+ line array with some major music event in Bratislava. The 800 plus charity event featured a complete cross section of entertainment which included folk music, chamber music, rock and even tap dancing!

Daniel Smutný, Prodance's technical support was on hand to meet the dealers on the Friday morning. He says: "The TT+ system and rigging is very user-friendly and the whole array, comprising six TTL33-As per side, were flown with ease in no time at all with two TTS28-As ground-stacked below, this really impressed some of our customers who had turned up early to view the whole event. The set-up of the actual array was also quickly taken care of with the aid of the RCF TT+ Shaper software; this takes just a few minutes to enter details of the venue and then gives you all the array configuration settings to achieve the best results, along with vital loading and weight information."

The bands started arriving in the early afternoon for sound checks. Smutný says: "We had it all, a folk quartet with twin fiddle, upright bass, accordion and vocal harmonies, a good-size school band with drums, keyboards, two electric guitars, two acoustic guitars, bass guitar, some vocals and some solo acoustic instruments, excellent rock band and even a 15-piece chamber orchestra with cembalo".

Smutný took time out to canvass opinions from his clients. These were complementary, with many comments about the LF extension, saying that the TTL33-A surprised them as most compact line array boxes do not give you that amount of bass; most thought that it was easily enough for small events with just speech and CD. Other comments included: "Excellent sounding lows localized right in the centre, both sides combine well; nicely detailed mids and gently aggressive highs".

Smutný concludes: "The capabilities of the speakers really showed up after midnight when the main act, a rock band aptly named The Steam, took over the stage. The system was being running smoothly with more than enough headroom to push the vocals over the band, and every bit of detail standing out, the kick drum was tight and punchy and the HF was delivered with real sparkle. The crowd came forward to the stage, the bass beautifully spread over the room and the coverage across the full frequency spectrum was excellent. All instruments were clear and easily separable from each other which made it all the more interesting to listen to."
