Audio Telex, one of Australia's leading pro audio distribution companies, supplied the system, which was used for both the front of house and monitors, to the show's production company Innovative Lighting & Sound.
The front of house system comprised nine flown TA-890H mid-highs per side, nine ground-stacked TA-890L subs per side, with a centre block of six TSW-218 subs. Front-fill was provided by two Aspect Wide TA-500s per side, with two self-powered TQ-445DPs in the centre. The monitor system utilised TQ-315 wedges with TXD-215 subs and TXD-121 tops as DJ monitors.
Innovative Lighting & Sound also had its own 72-box Turbosound Flashlight system hard at work, providing audio for a dance party at the adjacent 21,000-capacity Acer Arena. Brad Law, FoH engineer for the Australian dates, was using Aspect for the first time and reports, "It's a very capable system. I was impressed and can't wait to use it at other events."
Jeremy Koch, director of Innovative Lighting & Sound also noted that both the artists and promoter of the America's Most Wanted tour were very happy with the Aspect system. "It was clean with heaps of headroom," he said. "What was coming from such physically small boxes was quite astounding."
A few days beforehand, the same Audio Telex Aspect system had been deployed at the Horden Pavilion, Sydney for a charity dinner, Forever Green. This high profile launch event was held for the Steve Waugh Foundation, an organisation set up by the legendary Australian cricketer, whose main aim is to raise money and provide support for children who have a disease or illness that doesn't meet the criteria of other charitable organisations.
Audio Telex loaned the system to the event's production company Norwest Productions, who were very impressed with its performance. "The system worked very well. We had nothing but compliments about the sound," says Dave Rennie, Norwest Productions general manager.
