UK - As the Judges are on the PLASA Show floor, adjudicating the short-listed products in the PLASA 2006 Awards for Innovation, one of the 64 nominated products they'll be viewing in the Innovation Gallery is Turbosound's Aspect modular point source loudspeaker system.

Over the last two years, the Turbosound system has made a big impact around the world and the number of enclosures now in regular use approaches 2,000.

From Australia to Italy and America to Korea, Aspect has found favour with rental and installation companies alike who have all recognised the benefits of its compact size, audio quality, power and directionality, says the company.

In Australia, Perth-based Megavision declared that Aspect was the best sounding system they had ever heard and invested in TA-880Hs with TSW-218 subwoofers, whilst Stav Hatzipantelis, owner of Pro Light & Sound, hails his new system as 'truly phenomenal' after delivering perfect sound to 10,000 festival-goers at Kiss My Grass in his hometown of Melbourne.

Mastersound of Busan, South Korea has been using its 20 TA-890 enclosures since the beginning of 2006 on a wide variety of televised shows. "Aspect is doing exceptionally well in Asia," reports Turbosound Middle East and Asia sales manager Tim McCall. "As well as its continual use in Korea, it has become the de facto choice for high specification nightclub installations in China where we have also seen the first installation into a venue of the new Aspect Wide enclosures."

TA-880 and TA-890s have been shipped to Romania; in Norway leading rental company AVAB CAC has added substantially to its Aspect inventory, as has Wayne Barker's WE Audio in the UK. In Germany CE-Veranstaltungstechnik, one of the first companies to adopt Aspect in Germany, joined forces with BLL-VT Krefeld to provide a large system that needed to deliver consistent results for a yearly DJ event in the tricky atmospheric conditions of a former quarry.

DPA Soundco of Denmark has added to both its Turbosound inventory and its systems' versatility with Aspect Wide, whilst Britannia Row Productions has worked its Aspect system extremely hard by putting it through its paces on David Gilmour's European tour, which culminated in concerts at Venice's St Marks Square and the resonant surroundings of Gdansk's historic dockyard.

Over on the American continent, a desert oasis in Indio, California hosted the Coachella festival where Rat Sound provided Aspect systems for two of the five main performance stages; Bauder Audio used their new 48-box Aspect system for the Cape May Jazz Festival followed almost immediately by the commencement ceremonies at Temple University in Philadelphia; and Virginia-based companies Soundworks and Southard Audio, who have a 20 year collaborative history, were both early adopters of the system.

This summer also saw the installation of a TA-500 system in the performance hall of the multi-million dollar Nashville Musicians Hall Of Fame & Museum, installed by TC Furlong Inc. "This was the inaugural performance for the TA-500s in the United States. They performed very well and sounded terrific," he says.

Another Aspect installation has been at cultural centre Òran Mór in Glasgow, which has invested in a system based round Aspect Wide. "The space has a very low ceiling, so we couldn't fly anything," said technical manager for the venue Duncan Taylor. "But it sounds superb and it has loads of headroom. The wide dispersion also overcomes any coverage issues we had in the past."

"We've been very pleased with the feedback we've had on Aspect," says Turbosound sales director Rik Kirby. "It could have been a struggle to get people to realise that there is an alternative to the current fashions in audio, but without exception we've found that once they hear how good it sounds and see how easy it is to set up and transport, it simply sells itself."
