The hotel is owned by Per Gessle, of Swedish pop duo Roxette fame, and his business partner Björn Nordstrand. The pair have taken what was an old beach hotel and invested millions of Swedish Kronor to create an exclusive property that provides the best spa experience in Sweden.
With a musician at the helm, the audio installation was an extremely important part of the mix and, as equipment supplier New Musik's sales manager Håkan Sjöö explains, was based around a Turbosound loudspeaker system.
"While the hotel industry is not a new end-customer for New Musik, this hotel can host over 700 people and has 250 rooms, all of which have been equipped to the highest standard," he states. "In marketing itself as conference centre, hotel and spa, Hotel Tylösand needed a full range of audio products.
"The installation was carried out by Tylösand Sound and Turbosound products were used throughout: TCS-C50T ceiling speakers in the main lobby area; weatherproof TCS-101CWT for the pool area; TCS-081C in conjunction with TSB-110 subs in the main gym; Impact-50s in the yoga room and other smaller rooms used for relaxation.
"Turbosound has a wide range of loudspeakers so it's very easy to find the right equipment for different projects. For this particular job we needed to have both design and function, for example we used weatherproof cabinets in the pool area that can handle humidity whilst still having a nice design to fit in this special location.
"The biggest challenge for us was to win the contract as we were up against some of our major competitors. But in the end, our products were the best value from both a financial and sound point of view.
"Tylösand Sound has used Turbosound loudspeakers for many years in its rental business and is very satisfied with the quality and performance that Turbosound stands for. The customer is also very satisfied and we will use this installation as a reference project."
