UK - The Music Faculty at the University of Oxford and leading audio specialist Sennheiser UK have announced the first Oxford/Sennheiser Electronic Music Prize [OSEMP]. OSEMP has been developed as an annual event to help promote innovative and communicative electronic music composition in the UK.

Sennheiser, known for their long-standing support of various educational bodies, have provided generous prizes for first, second and third place. Finalists will be notified in October 2014 and will then be invited to take part in the OSEMP showcase event in Oxford on 8 November 2014, with the three winners being announced at the conclusion of the concert, partly on the basis of their performances.

Finalists will also receive a vinyl copy of patten's Estille Naiant, kindly donated by Warp Records.

The competition is open to composers based in the UK; Deadline for submission is 31 August 2014; Entrants must be under 35 years of age on 31 August 2014; Submission can be made for either fixed media (studio composition) or live electronics (performance); All submissions should consist of a stereo .wav recording of the complete piece, accompanied by a programme note of no more than 500 words that explains the specific aesthetic, formal and technical ideas that shaped the composition, and should explain how it's sounds were created; All applications must be sent via www.wetransfer.com (or equivalent web file transfer service) in 1 single ZIP file to the email: osemp@music.ox.ac.uk
