The latest Harry Potter film utilized a super silent generator with fuel tank to supply extra power for a set being filmed in St Pancras Chambers in London. The Victorian Gothic building, which was being used for some interior shots was unable to supply sufficient power for the filming equipment.
2003 also saw Powerent's sister Longville Group company, CRS Ltd, on the cast list for the much anticipated Thunderbirds movie. It provided 500kW of air conditioning for an overheating Tracey Island set.
Powerent's influence has not just been limited to the silver screen. The company also provided specialist power generators for the launch of Kylie Minogue's new album Body Language - a performance watched by 4,000 specially invited guests and millions of television viewers.
2004 sees Powerent in Luxembourg where it is providing power for a new production of The Merchant of Venice starring Al Pacino. The company has also just secured the contract to supply power for the forthcoming Phantom of the Opera movie at Pinewood Studios, starring Minnie Driver and Miranda Richardson. In addition to the film work, the crew from Powerent will be following the boys from Busted around the country this year, supplying power for some special one-off concerts.
Neil Atkinson, sales director of Powerent, explained: "We feel the level of our success in the film and music industry stems from our ability to provide a complete and packaged solution. We work closely with the production team, lighting contractor, studio management and special effects teams to ensure we deliver a tailor made service. We are looking forward to seeing what new challenges lie ahead in 2004. It's always great feeling to know you have delivered the right solution for a customer, but even better when you see the finished product on TV or at the cinema!"
