Durham Cathedral is a very busy building, so the time available to rig and programme the equipment was somewhat limited, but Vortex's crew of just 4 installed all of the equipment, including the stage in just over three hours and removed in less than two hours, says the company.
All stage and lighting equipment installed by Vortex was from its own hire stock and included the following:
20 x Topdeck Cameo carpeted stage decks; 6 x Martin Mac Auras for the stage wash; 18 x Core Point 30 battery powered W-DMX LED up-lighters for the columns and Nave Aisles; 14 x GLP Impressions - up lighting for the Nave columns and roof; 4 x Studio Due StudioLED 600s for the rear of the stage and the roof above the choir to the rear of the stage; 1 x GrandMA 2 Lite console for control via a W-DMX system from Wireless Solutions and a dual universe 2.1 DMX hub from Luminex.
The power supply was limited to just 24 Amps (via 13A outlets) on both sides of the Nave, but the use of Vortex's high powered LED products allowed them to work within these limitations, obviating the need for external generating equipment.
