Yer Granny is a new comedy about a diabolical 100-year-old granny who's literally eating her family out of house and home
UK - The Warehouse Sound Services has been appointed by The National Theatre of Scotland to deliver sound for the theatrical tour of Yer Granny starring Rab C. Nesbitt's Gregor Fisher. The show is currently touring across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Yer Granny, presented by the National Theatre of Scotland, opened at the Kings Theatre Glasgow between the 26-30 May and is now touring Kings Theatre Edinburgh, Eden Court Theatre Inverness, Lyric Theatre Belfast and the Dundee Rep Theatre.

The Warehouse Sound Services hire department was asked by Matt Padden, head of sound for the National Theatre Scotland, to supply the sound equipment for their production using the latest d&b audiotechnik Y-Series loudspeaker system.

The sound design by The Warehouse Sound includes d&b audiotechnik Y7P, Y8 and Y-SUB loudspeakers for front of house and EM Acoustics EMS-51 loudspeakers for delay and in-fill use, all controlled from a Yamaha CL5 Digital mixer with RIO stage-boxes.

Adapted from the smash-hit Argentinian comedy classic La Nona, the cast of Yer Granny features some of Scotland's best-loved performers, including Gregor Fisher in the title role, alongside Paul Riley (Still Game), Jonathan Watson (Only An Excuse?), Maureen Beattie (Casualty), Barbara Rafferty (Rab C Nesbitt), Brian Pettifer (The Musketeers) and Louise McCarthy (Mamma Mia!, West End).

Yer Granny is a riotous new comedy about a diabolical 100-year-old granny who's literally eating her family out of house and home. She's already eaten their fish and chip shop into bankruptcy and now she's working her way through their kitchen cupboards, pushing the Russo family to desperate measures just to survive beyond 1977.

Getting the right balance was the main challenge for The Warehouse Sound design team, as Derek Blair, Managing director, explains: "The show combines passages of quiet naturalistic dialogue. The d&b audiotechnik Y-Series handles this range extremely well giving us the natural clarity we needed as well as the power and adaptability for the fast-paced nature of the production. In addition, the EM Acoustics EMS-51 is a compact two-way multipurpose loudspeaker which complements the d & b set up providing powerful speech reinforcement, music playback, fills & delays."

Matt Padden, head of sound for the National Theatre Scotland, adds: " Yer Granny features a strong ensemble cast with fast-paced, wordy dialogue. The comedic, relentless, physical nature of the show requires a crystal clear sound clarity and The Warehouse have delivered on all fronts."

Derek Blair concludes, "We are delighted to be supplying equipment to this tour especially as it has such a great cast and crew! It is a privilege to be working on such a funny, fast moving production using the very latest sound equipment."
