Further to a long standing relationship with White Light, Thorpe Park has now invested in audio equipment that can be tailored to their specific future event needs. Thorpe Park's entertainments technical coordinator Martin Swain comments, "We required some equipment for our upcoming Ministry of Sound event along with the Island Beats concerts we'll be hosting all summer. Prior to this, we used to hire equipment but recently had the opportunity to purchase it instead."
White Light business development manager Jonathan Haynes led the project. "After providing onsite product demonstrations, it quickly became apparent that the EM Acoustics system was ideally suited to their requirements, being flexible enough to handle the variety of events and functions that Thorpe Park provide" comments Jonathan.
White Light supplied the complete system, including a Halo Compact line array, eight MSE-218 High Power Reflex Loaded Subwoofers and eight 12" Compact Monitor Loudspeakers, powered by seven EM Acoustics Switchmode Power Amplifiers. Thorpe Park also chose White Light to purchase additional radio microphones, choosing 12 x Sennheiser EW500-965 G3 and four SKM 500-965 G3 Condensor Handhelds as well as four SK 500 G3 Bodypack Transmitters. A Sennheiser EW300-IEM G3 monitoring system was also supplied.
EM Acoustics provided on-site training for Thorpe Park's team to familiarise them with the new system and explain how it can be up-scaled for larger one off events. One of the key advantages is that is can be supplemented by the hire of additional boxes and amplifiers from White Light's ever expanding rental inventory. Thorpe Park was also very conscious of frequency interference; particularly due to their close proximity to Heathrow Airport and as a result, a team from Sennheiser performed an RF survey to ascertain frequency bands and minimise potential disruption.
White Light also provided lighting control through a Sapphire Touch Console and Tiger Touch Pro. Twenty-nine additional Prolyte LiteDecks were also purchased along with LiteDeck Handrails to compliment Thorpe Park's existing stock, and Prolyte H30V trussing was supplied to form a fixed grid, installed by our Special Projects team. Martin added, "We had a great experience working with White Light. They were extremely understanding when it came to our needs and not only worked within our budget but provided the necessary solutions to any issues we faced".
The equipment will be mainly used to host Thorpe Park's outdoor events with the Ministry of Sound's Throwback Anthems night being the first in what looks to be a busy summer. The installation signifies the growth of White Light's relationship with Thorpe Park as well as the company's reputation as a complete solutions provider, with several existing clients now approaching them for not only their proven lighting services but expert sound solutions.
