The TF Series is aimed at small-to-medium sized venues and touring bands, education and houses of worship - in fact anywhere where high quality facilities with remarkable ease of use and an exceptional price point are required.
Adding to the surprise of the launch audience, the first TF1, TF3 and TF5 consoles will be shipping by the end of this month.
Attracting a constant stream of admirers throughout the four days of Prolight+Sound, significant orders were also placed by a number of high profile rental companies, including leading UK supplier LMC Audio.
"It's not an easy thing to anticipate the needs of the market with a new product and then exceed those expectations upon delivery, but that is the feat that I think Yamaha have achieved with TF," says Paul Hinkly, LMC Audio managing director. "Even the briefest of once-overs revealed impressively thought out screen support for engineers, enabling all operators the chance to maximise their contribution to the show.
"I think it will become a stalwart performer and enable improved quality audio across the widest of live applications."
While the TF consoles attracted many of the headlines, constant demos of Yamaha's forthcoming flagship Rivage PM10 console and Nuage post-production system - complete with Steinberg's latest Nuendo 7 software - attracted a great deal of interest, as well as the European debut of the RSio64-D, a Dante-based i/o rack unit for Yamaha's mini-YGDAI interface cards, which can add exceptional flexibility to a wide range of Dante-based applications.
"We were delighted with the response from the industry at Prolight+Sound," says Nils-Peter Keller, pro audio division director at Yamaha Music Europe GmbH. "The stand was constantly busy and, while we had exceptional levels of interest in the TF Series and Rivage PM10, we received many enquiries and orders for Yamaha's wide range of products for the live music, post-production and installation markets."
