The City Academy Scheme is a relatively new Government backed programme, which provides inner city areas with new "flagship" schools. These completely new purpose built facilities allow students to expand and develop within a varied educational programme whilst offering the very latest high quality equipment.
So far Lambeth and Northampton Academies have been equipped with Chilli Dimmers and varied lighting consoles. Northampton Academy which opened on January 9th 2006, has been equipped with 96 channels of Chilli dimming along with an Illusion 500 console, whilst at the Lambeth site there are 56 channels of Chilli dimming of which there are 8 Channels of HF dimming along with a Fatfrog console.
Simon Ling from Hawthorn Theatrical explains, "The City Academy projects have been extremely good projects to have worked on. As these are new build facilities installation and programming is so much more straightforward. After considering several products within the dimmer and console market we decided to install Zero 88 products.
Being used within an educational environment places huge demands on products. Durability and performance are paramount and it's here that Zero 88 have a proven track record."The next Academy due to be completed is Marlowe.
