"Even though we hadn't heard the UPJs, we knew the ethos of Meyer products and had no doubt that they would fulfil our expectations," says Audio Alliance director Oliver Driver. "We used Meyer's MAPP Online before the loudspeakers arrived to design a system for their debut, a theatre show. On the opening night the press commented on the "excellent sound". Since this show, the UPJs have completed numerous corporate events with very positivecomment from both clients and engineers."
Six UPJ-1Ps have gone to first-time Meyer users Pro Audio Systems of Bradford, while another first-time client is London-based AV company Hamilton Rentals which has invested in four of the new boxes, having sub-hired Meyer speakers in the past. Long-term Meyer users Sound by Design has bought four UPJ-1Ps to add to its stock for classical and corporate work, while another established user, the English National Opera, has purchased four cabinets following a two-decade relationship with Meyer Sound products. Apex Acoustics, which regularly adds new boxes to its growing Meyer stock, has invested in twoUPJ-1Ps.
10 UPJ-1Ps have been purchased for installation into new London venue Hackney Central Station, while theatre design specialist Autograph Sound Recording has bought six of the new speakers and Marquee Audio has invested in two UPJ1-Ps as its second-ever pair of demonstration speakers. "I shouldn't have been surprised at the excitement caused by a new Ultra Series product from Meyer Sound," says Autograph Sales' Meyer Sound productspecialist Roger Harpum. "However, the level of interest in the UPJ-1 has been overwhelming!"
The Meyer Sound UPJ-1P Variable Orientation loudspeaker is a fully integrated two-way system comprising a 10" neodymium magnet low-mid frequency driver and a 2" high-frequency compression driver and employing a rotatable 80° x 50° horn.
