USA - Just in case you couldn't be on the scene for NAB 2006, the videohounds at b-roll.net have got you covered. As one of the web's leading resources for TV news photographers, b-roll.net expert shooters made the leap this year from writing about NAB tocapturing the highlights on video. To make sure the sound was as crisp as the images and editing, they hit the Las Vegas Convention Centre equipped with Lectrosonics wireless microphones.

"NAB 2006 was the ultimate test for a wireless system," reports Kevin Johnson, founder of b-roll.net. "Even with so much RF running around the building, we never had a problem with losing the signal from our Lectrosonics mics. In all my experiences with Lectrosonics they've been a solid performer, and that held true in the challenging environment that ashow the size of NAB presents." The b-roll team set out with highly portable packages of DVcams, Lectrosonics MM400B transmitters and UCR 100 miniature receivers with themission of getting enough quality footage to create and post eight two-minute NAB vignettes online.

Even with all the hectic action and up-to-the-minute developments of the industry's largest trade show happening, recording quality audio was assured. "We got great sound out of the Lectrosonics setup," Johnson says. "It's just a loud room, but when we put the lavaliers on our subjects every word came through very clearly."

For b-roll.net, having Lectrosonics on hand was an important way to introduce a little order into covering the chaos that is NAB. "That show can be a logistical nightmare. It's the equivalent of 68 football fields in square footage," Johnson says. "I wanted us to be able to travel light and move fast, and that's why I looked to Lectrosonics. The last thing I wantedto have to say before a quick interview was, 'Wait a minute, I have to checkthe wireless mic.' I just wanted my wireless mics to work - and they did."
