The Smoothies comprise a two-part foam cavity constructed of an open cell acoustic foam base, covered by a thin foam outer skin, reducing wind noise up to 22dB. A large range of sizes is available to fit most popular shotgun and condenser microphones (from 19mm to 25 mm diameter), as well as a variety of on-board camera microphones. There are five new Smoothie flavours to choose from: blackberry, strawberry, lime, banana and blueberry.
For increased wind protection a removable fur cover (Smoothie Windjammer) is available as an optional extra in the standard Rycote grey fur.
Rycote's managing director, Vivienne Dyer, commented: "We are certainly hoping our Smoothies will appeal to our customers. We are confident they will be a match for most conditions, as our foam does not break down. It will be interesting to see which colour catches on the most!"
