UK - Digidesign has appointed Marquee Audio and Orbital Sound as exclusive UK distributors for their innovative Venue Live mixing environment. Designed from the ground up for live sound reinforcement and broadcast applications, Digidesign Venue is a feature packed, purpose-built, modular live sound mixing and production environment. Venue comprises the D-Show mixing console, front-of-house mix engine, Stage Rack I/O unit with recallable, remote-controlled preamps, and a multi-channel digital snake.

As a hugely creative sound design tool, it offers the quality and functionality of highend live sound mixing systems at an affordable price. Plus Venue is the only live sound mixing environment to feature an optional direct digital link to the industrystandard Digidesign ProTools systems. As a modular base system it is infinitely configurable, supporting up to 96 mic inputs and 27 busses. The powerful mix engine provides EQ and dynamic processing onevery input channel along with assignable graphic EQ's and full support for Pro Tools plug-ins. In addition, multiple redundant subsystems, snap shot capabilities and outstanding sonic clarity combine to make Venue a powerful live sound solution.

Digidesign's European Live Sound Sales Manager, Mike Case, commented: "Both Marquee and Orbital possess as much digital technology experience that is possible in the Live sound arena. This expertise coupled with their unparalleled level of commitment to customer support, made them the obvious choice as UK partners for Digidesign's Venue. We are looking forward to a long and successful close collaboration with both companies as we introduce the ground-breaking, unique features of Digidesign's Venue into the UK live sound market."

Orbital's Chris Headlam added: "In actual live performances all our engineers have been delighted with the quality of the console and astonishing power of the Pro Tools record and replay interface that for the first time brings control of both spot sound effects and multi-track playback directly into the console environment. In our opinion the Digidesign Venue is the only product to date that rivals Yamaha's PM1D for reliability, which is a fundamentalprerequisite in live performance and we greatly look forward to developing this new market sector."

Marquee Audio sales director, Andy Huffer, agreed: "After extensive evaluation, we've committed to the Venue. It's a different take on our familiar territory of the large-scale digital console, and offers a complete solution for live multitrack playback, mixing and recording, all in the industry-standard Pro Tools format. "Engineers have been particularly impressed with the console's sonic quality, coupled with the flexibility of the plug-in processing. The direct Pro Tools HD interface is the icing on the cake. We've already had it out on some major UK and international tours with no grief, and there's a whole summer of high profile work to come. "We like to think that Marquee Audio have pioneered live digital audio integration, and the Digidesign Venue serves to further expand our substantial portfolio."
