The panels have an intricate abstract motif that lights up gradually. Ginco has been experimenting with Elumin8 lighting since 2003. Her work aims to create a vision of the future living environment.
Richard Kirk, managing director of Elumin8 says; "Electroluminescent (EL) lights are paper-thin, low-energy, and flexible and can be screen printed on to large-scale surfaces. Emitting a glow, they have the potential to transform advertising billboards into flashing, eye-catching animations, to create low-level lighting in jet aircraft and car interiors, and provide a fascinating tool for young designers like Ginco to use and explore. We commend Ginco in using Elumin8 in such an original and innovative way."
He continues: "We use Elumin8 technology in many commercial projects, but it is always fascinating to see how young creative designers apply the technology to their creations, to dazzling effect."
Ginco says; "This gentle evolution of light brings life to the environment and a contemplative dimension. The panels are designed to enhance and transform a space and intervene physically with it. I want to challenge the common misconception that light emanates from one source, typically from the ceiling or a standing lamp. More importantly it establishes a new purpose for light, beyond the obvious one to lighten a space."
