UK - Leading crowd management specialist Showsec has commissioned a new Health and Safety course for its supervisory staff after discovering a need for training at this level. In 2005, Showsec completed Health and Safety training for its 28-strong management team, but in trying to implement the next tranche of the development programme, was unable to source a suitable training course for it's supervisory staff. They found the solution to the deficiency by commissioning a brand new course set to run across the company's nine UK offices from March this year.

Showsec has continued with the investment and expansion of it's training and research department in 2006. The staff development programme will set new standards within the industry, say the company.

The IOSH-accredited Supervising Safety in the Events Industry course has been devised by Showsec's training manager Roy Wise, Health and Safety manager Phil Cobourne and specialist consultant and IOSH licensed course provider Simon Garrett, MD of X - Venture. The two and a half day course will bridge the gap between the supervisor and manager level in health and safety training. 150 Showsec supervisors will complete the course in the first half of the year.

Showsec's managing director, Mark Harding commented: "This is another first within the industry. The continuous training and development of staff is fundamental to success and progress of the company. It is a pleasure to work with a team of managers who are so focussed and solution driven. The company ethos of education and opportunity has had such a positive influence on our operational output. The introduction of the new health and safety course will not only benefit Showsec but the industry as a whole. Our company will continue to change and raise standards within the industry."
