UK - The Training Initiative, the long-established training and education programme run by leading entertainment lighting supplier White Light, has announced a line-up of one-day classes for the first half of 2006 in addition to its normal round of training initiatives. The classes offer visitors the chance to learn about some of the latest lighting technology, ranging from MA Lighting's grandMA lighting console to CAD software such as AutoCAD and WYSIWYG.

Held at White Light's base in London, south-west London, classes are generally held on Wednesdays and run from 10am until 4pm. The season started on Tuesday January 24th with a free Advanced course on the grandMA console; this was complemented the next day with a Basic grandMA course.

February started with a session on the Avolites consoles and will concluded with a session on the Whole Hog 2 console on the 22nd. March's courses are An Introduction to Moving Lights on the 8th and then a WYSIWYG class on the 22nd. CAD features during April and May, with a two part AutoCAD course, the first part held on April 5th and the second on May 3rd. Between the two, on April 19th, is a one day Basic course on Strand's ever-popular 500-series range of lighting consoles. The last currently booked class is a one day Lighting Master Class to be held on May 17th - though a regularly updated list of the classes currently on offer can be found at the White Light website.

All of the classes apart from the two grandMA classes cost £75 per person for the day, this including a buffet lunch. Those interested in booking a place on any of the courses should contact White Light's new training co-ordinator, Simon Barrett on 020 8254 4800.

Set up six years ago, White Light's Training Initiative has run an enormous range of courses and training sessions, including an ongoing series of highly successful schools lighting master classes as well as White Light open house days where anyone who wants to come and experiment with the latest lighting equipment can do so. All of the classes are taught by experts in their particular fields, either from White Light's staff or professionals working in the industry.
