Guest speakers Roger Van Der Plas of Philips, Gerry Schuh of GE Lighting and Joachim Denz of Osram will briefly discuss the characteristics, merits and limitations of halogen and discharge lamp sources, together with an account of the development to date of these technologies with regard to their efficiency, size, life, colour temperatures, energy consumption and compatibility with environmental regulations. The panel will then discuss the future evolution of future light source technologies with examples of their potential applications in entertainment and architectural markets.
Roger Van Der Plas studied Physics at the University of Ghent in Belgium. With Philips he was for several years responsible for the development of discharge lamps for general lighting applications and later of discharge lamps for the Entertainment Industry. He is now product marketing manager for all kind of entertainment lamps.
Gerald Schuh is global product manager for entertainment/specialty lighting at GE Lighting. He has been with the company for over 35 years, 25 of them in GE's international and global operations. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Finance and holds both a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois and Masters of Science (MS) in Industrial Relations from Loyola University, also in Chicago.
Joachim Denz began work in Osram in 1990 as a marketing manager for automotive light sources. Having led the automotive Xenonlight - now the market reference in automobile lighting - to international success, he took on the new position of the Business Unit Manager for Osram's worldwide entertainment activities in 2005.
