UK - Robe lighting celebrated the sale of its 5000th Robin 600 LEDWash fixture at PLASA 2011. It was purchased by French distributor, Axente.

Launched at PLASA 2010, the units started rolling off the production line in the Czech Republic in December of that year, hitting the 5000 target just 10 months later.

Right from the off, Robe's distributors have clamoured to get enough stock of the LEDWash 600, with Germany, France, the UK, Australia, Brazil and Italy all leading head-to-head in the race to get orders placed, processed and delivered to their clients in what has been a truly incredible sales trajectory, says the company.

UK - The people of Alloa can now enjoy a better night out thanks to the fast work of Black Light's Installation team. Black Light recently provided a full package of lighting and sound equipment for Alloa Town Hall - an historically significant building that is host to a wide variety of civic events, amateur and professional theatre performances and other entertainments.

"Our team acted as consultants to the project and then sourced and installed the required equipment," sayss Black Light's head of company development, Phil Haldane. "We worked to a very strict deadline as the equipment re-vamp was needed for a televised Scottish Parliamentary election count."

Black Light's team had to be particularly careful in how they installed equipment so as not to damage or compromise the hall's historic interior.

UK - Artistic Licence Engineering's training seminar 'DMX and RDM protocols - An Overview' was presented to a packed room as part of the PLASA Show's Education & Learning Programme on 'Skills Wednesday'.

Delegates were treated to a humorous but well-informed and interactive three hours by Artistic Licence Engineering's R&D manager, Tim Baarsch. During this time, they were taken step-by-step through the protocol communications, providing them with a solid basis from which to use DMX and RDM with confidence.

Attended by a broad spectrum of designers, technicians and architects, the session covered the history and workings of DMX and RDM, with liberal input from delegates who were free to ask questions throughout. The knowledgeable interjections from fellow delegates and DMX guru Adam Bennette added value to the wealth of information delivered by Baarsch.

UK - Robe Robin moving lights and CitySkape Xtremes from Robe's LED range were at the heart of a glamorous lighting scheme created by LD Nick Jevons of Electric Fly Productions for leading cosmetics brand Rimmel in London's iconic Battersea Power Station.

Staged on the eve of London Fashion Week, it celebrated 10 years of collaboration between supermodel Kate Moss and Rimmel, together with the launch of Rimmel's new 'London Lipstick Collection by Kate'.

Electric Fly was working for production company Iris Experience, for whom they regularly provide visual design and technical production services. All the lighting equipment was supplied by Blackburn based HSL.

UK - London-based lighting designer Nick Gray of Renegade pulled out all the stops to create a glamorous, high altitude lighting scheme for UK rockers Kasabian who played a prestigious gig on top of a skyscraper in downtown New York for leading fashion brand, Mulberry.

The show - one of a series of events celebrating Mulberry's 40th birthday - was staged on the rooftop of the Skylight West building in New York's Midtown district.

The recently renovated venue offers the largest private event rooftop space in the city and superlative panoramic views scanning the downtown area. Both Mulberry and Kasabian are regular clients of Gray and his creative live visual design company, Renegade.

Used to working in unusual environments, Gray utilised the steel superstructure of a 60ft wide billboard that resides atop the building. After structural tests, this was used to hang a substantia

The centrally located stand - with its minimalist white space and dramatic LED overhead feature - proved popular with many visitors, significantly raising the Group's profile and generating considerable sales activity.

Comprised of industry veterans Artistic Licence Engineering, Artistic Licence Integration and Ptarmigan Integration, along with the newly formed technical sales company Ten Thousand Things, Alderamin Group achieves a synergy that was very much in evidence at the show.

"Orders have been coming in since the show opened" said David Faulkes, sales director. "We have been particularly busy with sales of LED lighting, both static and automated, from orders received during and after the show."

UK - Production Services Ireland (PSI) recently supplied a moving lights, specials and LED effects package plus all rigging to the 2011 Proms In The Park event.

This is BBC Northern Ireland's largest OB event of the year and was one of four planned regional concerts that are linked live in to their coverage of the world famous spectacle of the Last Night of the Proms at London's Royal Albert Hall.

It was the second consecutive year that PSI had been involved in the BBC NI event as a major equipment supplier. The show was staged in at Castle Park, Bangor, and featured the Ulster Orchestra plus special guests, presented by Noel Thompson and Claire McCollum.

UK - Chauvet fixtures have been installed in Peterborough's Yates's venue. Over the dance floor are nearly 30 Chauvet fixtures specified by Wayne Biddlecombe, project manager for Play Network.

The dance floor, found in the middle of the bustling restaurant, features a square truss that mirrors its dimensions below. Placed in the centre of the truss are four Vue 6.1, six Derby X and two Hemisphere 5 effect lights - working overtime to the beat of the five resident DJs, who play nightly.

Surrounding the truss square are 10 LED Shadow blacklights, six hanging along the perimeter while the other four fan out in a half moon, mimicking the stairs to the dance floor below. On the crescent's outskirts are four Q-Spot 160-LED moving heads, which run down the centre of the club. Europe - CAST Software reports that it has received "rave reviews" from Dream Theater's creative team regarding the use of the latest wysiwyg release, R27, on the recent European festival tour of progressive rock band Dream Theater.

The 2011 summer European festival tour hit 20 major music festivals and one-offs beginning in Rome and ending in Hungary, drawing legions of fans to their monumental catalogue of releases and dynamic, marathon live shows.

Peru - Wireless Solution Sweden sent the W-DMX technology to Peru to play an important role in the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of the existence of the Quechua citadel of Machu Picchu in 1911 (100 Años del Redescubrimiento de Machu Picchu) by explorer Hiram Bingham.

Festival Funding - Edinburgh festival-goers could be asked to volunteer to pay extra for tickets in a bid to help raise money for the city to host major events. Jenny Dawe, Edinburgh City Council's leader, said a box to tick to add a "small percentage" could be added to online booking forms. She said she there was "generally no objection" if people knew the money was going to improve venues. Sales of tickets at this year's Edinburgh Fringe were up by 3% on 2010. According to figures released by the Fringe Society, 1,877,119 tickets were sold by its box office over the festival.
