"Here at Black Light we've always been great fans of Robe's products due to their high quality and exceptional performance," says the company's events and hires manager, Calder Sibbald.
Black Light has chosen the Robe Robin Pointe because of its flexibility and performance. "It is a cross purpose light that will meet a wide range of lighting needs, including Beam, Spot, Wash and FX, and is a great beam light for events and music shows," says Sibbald.
The Robin MMX Blade uses the MMX discharge fixture, which ca
This September, resident group Word and Life Worship - described as "a high-energy praise and passionate worship band spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ" - were again under the spotlight. Local sound and lighting specialists Prosound, PR Lighting's new South African distributors, provided a fully dynamic lightshow consisting of fixtures from the Chinese manufacturer to really make the performance come alive in the Boksburg-based church.
These included 10 XLED 1037, 10 XLED 336 and 10 XR 200 Beam - as well as other PR Lighting heads.
To maximize the event and swell the congregation, record companies and other churches from all over the region were invited with heavy pro
The ADJ companies initiated legal action against American Lighting in 2012, charging it with trademark infringement and unfair competition under the Lanham Act. Neo-Neon was later added to ADJ's lawsuit, which centered on the use of the names "American,' "Revo" and "E-Pro" on special effects and entertainment lighting products intended to compete with the ADJ Group's American DJ
Rush marks Martin's focus back to a market it knows well. "We are extremely excited about our RUSH range as it again brings everything that Martin stands for to the market for installation effect lights. Our roots lay in the lighting effects market and our experience will underscore the quality and reliability of the entire Rush Series," comments Villads Thomsen, vice president of global sales at Martin.
"The response since the release of Rush was overwhelmingly positive," continued Thomsen. "We feel the time is right to re-energize this segment a
The PLASA Awards for Innovation recognise products that advance the industry by demonstrating a new style of thinking, improving technical practice or taking a key step forward in terms of safety. During the show's opening two days, 45 new products were judged 'live' by an independent panel of expert judges who toured the show floor to view each product presentation.
Eight awards of equal standing were presented, as well as the PLASA Award for Sustainability, to the following winners:

"There were no delays, but the sound was clear and very loud even 100m back from the stage," recalls Jay Neil, technical director of EHQ Projects. "Afterwards, I had people telling me it sounded like a CD on a great stereo."
In order to cover an audience of 30,000 in Kuala Lumpur's Stadium Merdeka, the two companies configured a system of 72 Milo loudspeakers, including 40 for main hangs, 30 for side hangs, and two for out-fills. Front-fill was provided by 12 M'elodie line array loudspeakers, and 40 7

The show was world premiered at the Mayfield Depot in Manchester as part of the 2013 Manchester International Festival (MIF), then played at Kraftzentrale at Duisburg's Landschaftspark at the 2013 Ruhrtriennale International Festival of the Arts culminating in a run at The Park Avenue Armouries in New York last week, making a serious impact.
The powerful and thought-provoking presentation was a collaboration between Massive Attack's Robert "3D" Del Naja, Adam Curtis and technical visionaries, United Visual Artists (UVA).

Real Music Acoustics & Lighting Technology Co. Ltd., Adamson System Engineering's distributor in China and Hong Kong, supplied an Energia E15 line array system for the two-day festival.
"The record labels artists represent many different genres of music," explains Richie Wang, GM for Real Music Acoustics & Lighting. "We provided a substantial Adamson E15 PA in order to accommodate their heavy metals bands as well as pop and folk music acts."
The E15 line arrays - 12 enclosures per array - were hung from scaffolding erected to the right and left of the stage. Under each array were a stack of six

The MAC III Quadray allows for projection of up to four individually controllable rays of light from a single luminaire, providing new possibilities in static or dynamic mid-air effects. Superior output from a 1500-watt lamp means the MAC III Quadray delivers enough power for even the biggest stages and venues. The RAH's Lighting department were appointed as lighting contractors and senior technical manager Ollie Jeffery contacted award winning international lighting designer Tim Routledge to create a design using their own extensive house rig - featuring 130 moving lights - plus a large quantity of 'specials' including 24 x Robe Robin Pointes and 40 x Robe Robin LEDBeam 100s.
These were supplied by Brighton based TSL. Project manager Frankie Du Toit organised WYSIWYG, patch and systems liaising with Routledge directly on behalf of the Hall.
Jeffery comments, "TSL didn't just provide us with a dry-hire service, it was a complete managed package backed up by a first class service.&quo
New software from ELC, derived from continuing experience gained through working on live events, is now available as dmXLAN v4. This completely revised freeware programme for Windows and OSX recognizes that managing the Ethernet network on live events has become a specialist role within the technical team in recent years.
ELC's software engineers often freelance on shows where they take responsibility for maintaining the integrity of data networks that distribute data for lighting, automation, LED screen and communications to distributed areas of the rig and dmXLAN v4 is the tool designed to do that job.
The theatre which reopened in February 2013 had been dark for four years and having discovered their own console had been badly damaged in storage , the theatre was loaned a Strand Console by the Royal Shakespeare Company. When it came to replacing the console , Stephen Hocking from the Albany had already experienced the Orb XF supplied to the Palace Theatre Redditch (where he used to crew) and realised that this was the desk for them.
An onsite demo by Richard Lambert of Zero88 saw the Orb XF connected and patched easily to the theatres own DMX network and tasks which the crew had struggled to do effectively on the Strand console, were achieved quickly and easily.
During a separate site inspection by Keith Rogers , service manager

Robe's CEO Josef Valchar comments, "We are really happy. There was a constant stream of people to the booth, interest in all the latest products and of course, we are delighted to win another Innovation Award, which is a great recognition of all the hard work and foresight of our product design and R 'n' D teams."
The Robe stand was the largest of the exhibition in surface area and occupied a prominent position at the back of the hall. It was designed by Nathan Wan and also featured an eye-catching light-show - also designed and programmed by Wan, utilising all the new and latest products to a special soundtrack.
This ran every half an hour, and attracted even more people to the booth t
A packed audience gathered to see SGM CEO Peter Johansen collect the coveted prize from PLASA chairman, Ed Pagett in a ceremony at the ExCeL's AudioLab Arena during this year's PLASA Show in London, as Association CEO Matthew Griffiths made the announcements.

The revised versions of the MA VPU plus and MA VPU basic offer even more functionality and performance than their already sophisticated predecessors. And with the brand new MA VPU light, MA hit the market with a media solution for more budget conscious projects - offering nearly the same power as the MA VPU plus and basic.
Michael Althaus, MA Lighting's managing director, was happy with the trade show's feedback: "PLASA 2013 saw MA Lighting's system solutions taking a big step forward again. We expanded and enhanced our media elements, offering the market a wider range and set new hardware benchmarks. With HD resolution on any MA VPU and multiple HD layer processing in parallel, as well a
Lighting for the show is designed by KBS's Mr Lee Kwan Han working closely with the KBS lighting design team. Currently on the rig for the weekly show are 40 x Robe Robin 1200 LEDWashes and 38 MMX Spots which were purchased earlier in the year by the KBS Hall to be added to their house lighting system.
They are proving ideal for lighting the show, giving Mr Lee all the creative latitude he needs to produce a rich and varied collection of looks and scenes for the different artists each week.

Pete Robinson project managed for dbn. Both he and the company have been involved in the event for the last six years, each time working closely with technical production management providers A To V and also directly with the client, to interpret their brief and help bring the venue alive with the atmospheres required.
This year, the venue was split into two sections. A fully operational fairground was installed in one half, and the dinner for 1000 people into the other. The dinner area featured a stage in the centre of the room and dbn was asked to create a circus big top visual effect, which they did using hundreds of strips of red a
This year's award was for the SuperNova 3 software, which enables system-wide control of RDM devices across an Art-Net network. SuperNova 3 offers the perfect tool for production electricians or system technicians to monitor, configure and display their rig status in real-time. Building on the SuperNova platform, this advancement enables users to control their whole rig - even the devices connected by cables.
LumenRadio's first Award for Innovation was given in 2009 for the CRMX Nova product line and it's contributions to wireless DMX and RDM data distribution including low latency, error correction, and cognitive coexistence that enable reliable operation in difficult and saturated radio environments. The second award was given to LumenRadio in 2010 for the CRMX Nova F
Asked about his profile, Lieberman says, "I'd like to consider myself a part of the electronic dance music community as well as a part of the nightclub community. I've grown up in this industry; I embrace it, support it and do my very best to perpetuate it."
Over the years he has turned to many different lighting solutions to fulfil his concepts, but recently added the name of SGM to his tool-box - specifying new generation LED X-5 strobes to implement a redesign at prominent Chicago club/restaurant Studio Paris.
"Aside from SGM, this was also my first project for Studio Paris and we immediate
The White Light Open Day, a free event aimed at those working in small theatres, performance venues, schools, and colleges, attracted 200 visitors in 2012 with attendees coming from across London and elsewhere in the UK. All were looking to improve their lighting knowledge, demo the latest kit, or meet with White Light staff.
This year's event aims to provide an even greater variety of content and activities allowing visitors to take part in lighting master classes and technical training sessions, as well as getting a hands-on look at White Light's extensive range of lighting, AV, and effects equipment available for s
