Germany - Meyer Sound announced at ProLight + Sound, Frankfurt, that it has incorporated its business in the UK by establishing Meyer Sound UK. This marks the second announcement from the company this month that demonstrates Meyer Sound's commitment to the growing European marketplace, says the company, the first being the appointment of Dave "Wiggy" Wiggins to the newly created position of director of marketing for Europe.

"The continuing development of Meyer Sound's business in Europe has made it essential for the company to form a strategic presence in the UK, which is one of the most influential professional audio markets in the world," says Helen Meyer, executive vice president of Meyer Sound. "The move to establish Meyer Sound in the UK is a key ingredient in our medium to long-term plans for growing our customer base, developing new markets, and getting closer to our clients to serve them better."

Over the past few years Meyer Sound has made a series of strategic hires in the UK market, adding Roger Harpum to its sales force, John Pellowe to oversee Constellation efforts and now, long-time industry veteran Dave Wiggins to the marketing team. In addition, education programme manager Gavin Canaan recently relocated to the UK in order to further develop Meyer Sound's worldwide educational programme in Europe.

"After working with Meyer Sound for more than 20 years, the formation of Meyer Sound UK is excellent news," says Graham Paddon, founding director of Amber Sound and long-time Meyer Sound user. "This sends a positive message to Amber Sound and to Meyer Sound's dealers and customers in the UK and Ireland - that the company wants to get closer to us all and is committed to delivering a more personal level of customer service and support."

Recent projects that feature Meyer Sound equipment in the UK include London's Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Led Zeppelin's reunion concert at the O2 Arena, the Kanye West tour, and the West End musical productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Sound of Music, and Wicked.
