Europe - Hailed as one of the key pop lyricists of his generation, he made his name as the vocalist of the highly influential British rock group The Smiths. Morrissey's latest tour of Europe has been carrying full production provided by SSE Audio Group, featuring a Nexo Geo T system with Camco amplification.

The tour, which started in Sweden, has visited a diverse list of venues, from well-known arenas to town halls. Used in full at the largest shows, for example at London's Alexandra Palace, Morrissey's Nexo Geo T tangent-array sound reinforcement system comprised left and right arrays of 12x T4805s and three T2815s, with a centre cluster of two T4805s plus three T2815s. Sub bass was delivered by Nexo CD18s and the entire system was powered by Camco Vortex 6 amplifiers, with Vortex 4s to power the stage monitor system.

FOH engineer Dave 'Milky' Millward explained: "It's quite a unique tour in some respects, because of the very different venues we are playing. Our smallest venue, which we played by choice, has capacity for just 600 people. Because there are only single-point hangs in some of these halls, we've had to split the stacks, putting the Geo T cabinets on top of the subs. If our flying limit was 400kg, we put five boxes in the air, and stacked the other five. It looks more scary than it is, because in fact it works."

The tour was also carrying some smaller compact enclosures from another French manufacturer, which are useful as sidefills, and for situations where venue and access constraints are just too difficult for a line array system.

Morrissey and Millward first used the Geo T system in 2003. "We kept coming across it at all the festivals in that summer, so for our 2004 tour, which had a number of arena dates at the end of it, we decided to use it. We've been very happy with it. It is a very consistent system, I like the clarity, and I'm still amazed at the size of the box compared to what comes out of it."

The support team from SSE, initially led by Nick Pain and taken on by Adam Scott, with Ollie Waring as stage monitor tech, was using the SSE Drivestation on the Ethersound network to control the Nexo NX242 processors.

Morrissey goes on to headline at some big festivals this summer, including the Rock Am Ring in Germany, Roskilde in Denmark, and the V Festivals in the UK, another SSE client which will feature Geo T on its main stages.
