UK - Global Display Solutions Ltd (GDS), the Bingley, UK-based designer and manufacturer of industrial displays, has made two new additions to its range of electronic signage displays, - the MiDAS32" and MiDAS46" IP65-rated large screen colour units - which are specifically developed for outdoor installation. The new monitors are suitable for even the most demanding external applications, say the company, as they feature full sunlight readability while being totally weatherproof and vandal-proof. Applications include railway stations, airports, bus stations and shopping malls.

These innovative new displays are the only ones available on the market to feature this large size and specifications. Their casing has been made to the IP65 standard, which guarantees total protection from dust and low pressure water from all directions. The units provide extremely high resolution of 1366 x 768. A further unique feature of the new monitors is a removable frame, which enables the displays to be paneled together behind a single pane of glass, giving the impression of a single, extra-large display.

The sleek appearance of the displays is complemented by a robust and modular industrial design, enabling them to operate efficiently 365 days a year. In addition, they have been designed to be aesthetically pleasing from all angles including the back, as no cabling is visible, say GDS.

Marco Cohen, sales and marketing manager at GDS, comments: "The trend for using electronic signage for marketing and information display purposes is rapidly growing across many sectors including travel, retail, advertising, leisure and entertainment. In fact, this market is predicted to double from $7.8bn in 2003 to $14bn by 2009. The introduction of these revolutionary new displays marks GDS's commitment to remain at the forefront of new technologies and products in the electronic signage market. We intend to expand this range further by the end of 2006 with the addition of a MiDAS65", which will be available in both monitor and PC versions."
